Won!! The 17th National Innovation Award!
Professor Wang Xiangchen's team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Chung Cheng University has developed the "Intelligent Endoscopic Medical Display," which has been awarded the 17th National Innovation Award. The Intelligent Endoscopic Medical Display utilizes artificial intelligence recognition technology and hyperspectral image analysis to identify potential lesion areas and display cancer stages. It assists doctors in interpreting esophageal images, enabling the early detection of esophageal cancer. This helps patients stay informed about their condition without delaying treatment while also allowing doctors to diagnose more accurately and efficiently, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of medical diagnostics.
Early detection and early treatment of esophageal cancer.
The National Innovation Award is the highest recognition in Taiwan’s biomedical and healthcare industry. The chief judge of the award, Dr. Pan-Chyr Yang, who is also the Vice President of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI), stated that receiving this national-level award is a great honor. He also encouraged the industry to make full use of big health data and integrate innovative service models to drive cross-disciplinary innovation, achieving the goals of smart healthcare, precision medicine, and regenerative medicine. The "Intelligent Endoscopic Medical Display" aligns perfectly with this vision. Unlike traditional endoscopes that rely heavily on a doctor's experience for diagnosis, Professor Wang Xiangchen’s team collaborated with medical schools to collect a vast dataset of esophageal cancer images from different stages. This data was used to build a medical information database that enables deep learning. Through image recognition technology, the system can identify lesion locations and determine cancer stages. By integrating medicine, artificial intelligence, and image recognition technology, this interdisciplinary collaboration enhances smart healthcare, making early detection of esophageal cancer faster and more accessible.
Hyperspectral imaging combined with AI-powered endoscopy enables earlier detection of esophageal cancer.
Professor Wang Xiangchen and his team are dedicated to interdisciplinary integration and innovation. Through his company, Haibo Vision Intelligence Technology, he has made significant contributions to the medical field. By leveraging his expertise in engineering, he aims to reduce patient suffering, assist physicians, and improve diagnostic efficiency, making a meaningful impact on healthcare. Beyond esophageal endoscopy, Haibo Vision Intelligence Technology utilizes a hyperspectral intelligent imaging recognition system, integrating it with oral endoscopes, fundus cameras, and dermatoscopes. This allows for rapid patient data analysis and database comparisons, facilitating early detection. The display system is user-friendly, requiring minimal training to operate, and can be seamlessly integrated into existing hospital and clinic equipment, making technology upgrades more accessible. Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment are essential pillars of health. With the aid of precise diagnostic instruments, accurate disease identification and targeted treatment become possible, benefiting countless individuals. By advancing medical technology, the goal is to build a healthier future for all.
